Extraordinary 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback Restomod, a truly one-of-a-kind custom build combining classic first-generation Mustang styling with an impressive 6.8L Triton V10 powerplant, extensive chassis engineering, and exceptional craftsmanship. Originally a factory A-Code Fastback, this Mustang was transformed into a unique performance machine with the goal of creating something unlike anything else on the road.
At the heart of this remarkable build is a 2005 Ford 6.8L Triton 3-valve V10 sourced from an F-250 with just 9,000 miles at the time of installation. Accommodating this massive engine required extensive custom fabrication, including a specially built subframe chassis, modified engine compartment, and a custom-fabricated 4″ steel cowl hood. The engine features a custom cold-air intake, fabricated 316L stainless steel headers, and a Jet-Hot ceramic-coated 2.5″ 409L stainless steel exhaust system with 409L stainless Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers.
Power is transferred through a Tremec 3650 five-speed manual transmission with a Stage II clutch assembly and custom aluminum driveshaft to a Woods Brothers 9″ rear axle featuring a limited-slip differential and 3.50 gearing. The Mustang was professionally tuned and dyno-tested by 5-Star in Florence, South Carolina, and includes its own tuner.
The custom-built chassis incorporates a Rod and Custom Mustang II front suspension with power rack-and-pinion steering and a sway bar, along with a Rod and Custom four-link rear suspension and rear sway bar. Four-corner adjustable air suspension by Air Ride Technologies provides additional ride-height flexibility. Braking is handled by Wilwood six-piston disc brakes with 13″ front and 11″ rear rotors, complemented by a Wilwood master cylinder and adjustable proportioning valve.
The exterior is finished in stunning show-quality two-stage Lexus Indigo Blue and Pepper Gray paint. Its distinctive appearance is enhanced by all-new chrome and stainless trim, tinted glass, new weather stripping, and sequential LED taillights. The rear wheel tubs have been widened to accommodate larger tires while retaining a factory-style interior layout. Custom-backspaced Team III wheels measuring 17×7 up front and 18×9.5 in the rear complete the aggressive stance.
Inside, the fully restored and customized cabin features Scat Rally front bucket seats with matching rear upholstery, all-new interior trim, and chrome hardware. Modern conveniences include Flaming River tilt steering, Dakota Digital electronic gauges, an AM/FM/AUX stereo, and air conditioning by Classic Auto Air. A complete Haywire wiring system and fuse block provide updated electrical infrastructure throughout the vehicle.
Every aspect of this Mustang reflects the extensive engineering and meticulous attention to detail required to integrate a powerful V10 drivetrain into a classic Fastback platform. From its custom chassis and advanced suspension to its striking paintwork and beautifully finished interior, this 1965 Mustang Restomod represents an exceptional combination of creativity, craftsmanship, and performance.
Professionally tuned, beautifully presented, and built to deliver an unforgettable driving experience, this V10-powered Mustang Fastback is a truly distinctive custom creation that stands apart from conventional restomod builds.
